Yeah Sunday was fun. And I’m late in posting this. And I refuse to use the phrase “Sunday Funday” because it sucks. I woke up wanting pancakes so I suggested going to Tom’s which is pretty much a neighborhood institution. Normally there is a huge line out the door but we must have just missed the breakfast rush, and we made it just before the lunch rush. So we were seated pretty quickly.
It’s standard old school diner fare but they have a pretty big selection of pancakes. I got the sweet potato pancakes with a side of pork sausage. Ryan ordered my other favorite thing on the menu, the corned beef hash breakfast, which comes with two eggs and potatoes. And THEN he ordered a side of bacon, which I yelled at him for. I’m sorry, that’s kinda gross. But it also gave me the opportunity/reason to eat CBH off his plate. Go me!
We took Milton to the park, and after reading and napping Ryan decided he wanted to grill a steak for dinner. So we headed to Fleisher’s on 5th Avenue to check out their selection. Well it was a whole bunch of grass-fed nothing! I headed to Bierkraft across the street for Innis & Gunn while he looked for other options. We decided to split forces – I went home to get produce and Ryan hopped on his bike to head to Los Paisano’s in Carroll Gardens to get some rib eyes.
You want to know what love is? Those steaks.
I’d picked up some tomatoes, scallions, a big Spamish onion, corn, and acorn squash. These just got olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Ryan = Grill Master. I love Sundays.
